Hello, I'm Imogen Lepere. Hi Horizon is a creative project dedicated to exploring how people change places and places change people. Each month, I share a personal essay deeply rooted in place. The locations may change – as a travel writer I'm often on the move – but themes remain constant: ethical travel, community, belonging, nature and home.

Each issue also includes tips for more meaningful travel, cultural recommendations and insights into what's on my desk , offering tomorrow's travel writers a glimpse into how I make a living from my passion.

About me

In my decade-long career I have visited 39 countries, often travelling slowly by boat or on foot. My work has appeared in places like the Guardian, Financial Times and Vogue among many others. I've also penned/cowritten five books, including The Ethical Traveller. In 2024, I was named Sustainable Travel Writer of the Year at the Travel Media Awards.
